The dreadlocks are a form of settlement of the hair that is frequently found among members of the Rastafarian movement. This way of taking the hair is very characteristic, because it requires that the hair is not combed or cut, it becomes a recognizable and obvious.
In the original members of the Rastafarian movement (or Rastafarah), which belonged to the black race characterized by the hirsute hair, dreadlocks arose in the process of not comb the strands in a very short period.
For the partnership between the Rastafarian movement and settlement of this form of hair, the hairstyle popularly known as "Rastas", which is a term that has been wrongly conceived over time.
Today, in this era in which we live the dreadlocks have become an instrument of fashion; a simple hairstyle, dirty and full of lice which has no place in this cynical society. The dreadlocks are much more than that: it is the hair of the Lion, are the roots of an oppressed people for more than 400 years and that now flourishes in the ghetto. As previously cited the dreadlocks symbolize a Rasta, but it is good to mention that not every Rasta is a dreadlock or all dreadlock is a Rasta.
It is the banner of Rastafarians. In antiquity inspired fear in the society by their "aggressive" appearance, but today is a means of protest toward the Babylon system, along with rounded and multicolored berets calls TAM.
There are two versions of the meaning of this word. The first is that means "hairstyle of fear", the second "locked, with knots."
The difference between "Dreadlocks" and "Rasta" is that the dreadlocks is the hairstyle, each dreadlock is each tube, and Rasta is being, the Rastafari person, which is why I&I know that "not every Rasta is a dreadlock and not all dreadlock is a Rasta". The dreadlocks are also a symbol of purity.
As Los Cafres (Argentina) says in them song "Dreadlocks":
"Know what we are bringing
Dreadlocks is not a fashion
Dreadlocks is a gem
Symbol anti-hypocrisy
The lack of roots and memory
Bureaucracy mask imposed a profile
of Decent person
Forgetting point forgetting the important thing (...)"
